[Lily is curled up on her bed crying, the SFC on her vanity broadcasting from where she threw it after checking the list and seeing that James is gone.]

This isn't fair.

[She's kind of a mess. Oh dear.]

[The SFC makes a noise, like she's got a message and she sits up, quickly wiping the tears from her eyes. Nope, no message, but...it's on. Oh bugger it all, it's broadcasting. This is embarrassing and probably the worst possible moment. Note to self, Lily. Don't throw the SFC.]

[She clears her throat, desperately wiping her tears away and trying to smile.]

James is gone.

[And with that, a tear slips down her cheek. There's no point in continuing this, she's not going to be able to say much more, so she just shrugs helplessly and hangs up.]

[She jumps up to look in the mirror, trying to fix her hair and make her face look a little less puffy and wet with tears.]

[ Quietly, he opens the door and closes it behind him to grant a little more privacy. Without a word, he walks over and pulls her into a tight hug, not caring at all if her hair was messed up or her face puffy.]

[He wasn't a hundred percent sure of that, but it was all he could really think to say.]

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. This place took Remus and then it took you twice and now James. You came back, but...Remus didn't, Sirius. Remus never came back.

[Silent tears are streaming from her eyes, wetting the shoulder of Sirius' shirt quite thoroughly.]

Technically...Remus came back twice...he just left three times too...You know...James left once too, but he still came back. We can't give up, Lils...three days, yeah? Three days and then we can start to worry.

[Poor Lily. It breaks Equius' cardiovascular organ to see her so sad, but he knows there isn't much he can do on his own for her, besides stand there awkwardly and offer stale reassurances about her matesprit's return. She said she doesn't want to talk, so...]

[So before too long, there's a pair of chocobo chicks at Lily's door, one blue and one green, kwehing and warking and scratching at the door's paint. Let them in, Lily, they need cuddles!]

[Oh, Equius. This really touches her. She's very fond of the little birds, and she laughs through her tears (and laughter through tears is my favorite emotion >.>). She plops herself down in the foyer of her house and welcomes the chicks into her lap.]

He'd heard the crying before he even messed with the feeds on the SFC, hovering apprehensively outside of James and Lily's bedroom door before he finally took in that breath and knocked on the door.

"...er, Lily...? Is everything...I mean, are you okay?" It was polite to ask, after all, she'd been so helpful to him he probably owed it to her anyway.

Lily quickly wiped her eyes and hopped over to the door. She opened it just a crack, peeking out.

"...hi, Ron. I just..." She paused to take a deep breath. Keep her voice even. "James is gone."

Oh cripes, she had been crying, it wasn't just his imagination! His eyes went wide as she spoke, Ron chewing on the inside of his lip before shaking his head some.

"No way! He couldn't just leave, could he? Not him too..." He took in a breath, reaching for his SFC to awkwardly navigate to the list. Then a deep frown as he looked back up her, unsure of what to say.

"I...I'm sorry...?" He didn't mean for it to come out as a question really, but given the circumstances he could only hope that it would go unnoticed.

She just shrugged helplessly. Nothing she could do. Nothing anyone could do. Not to bring him back and not to make her feel better about him leaving.
