[Lily's set herself up in the library in her house. There's a cauldron in front of her, a small flame flickering beneath it. She stirs the pot three times clockwise, and then four counterclockwise.]

Hello, Vatheon. There are quite a few new people floating about again, so I thought this was a perfect time to post. I'm Lily. As you can see I've been doing a bit of potion brewing. I finally made it down to the Nostalgia Nook, and the shop from my world is absolutely brilliant.

[She pauses to check her potions book and adds an ingredient, tapping the cauldron twice with her wand. Potions is very complicated and delicate.]

I stocked up on ingredients, so after I brewed a few potions for friends of mine, I thought I'd brew a few other useful ones. First of all a big batch of Pepper-Up. [She gestures to the cauldron.] That'll be a cure for the common cold. And hangovers. So if anyone's feeling a bit under the weather, let me know.

That said, [She turns the heat under the cauldron down.] Equius. Sollux. I'm ready when you are.

Would you like me to come over to your hive, or do you want to come to mine?

I should probably come to yours. I haven't exactly told James that we're doing this. I don't think he'd let me. Or he'd try to stop me anyway.

Why? You're not doing anything wrong.

[Notice he doesn't say doing anything weird, just wrong.]

He's overprotective. Understandably. I just don't want to worry him.

[Equius understands overprotective.]

All right, that's reasonable. Whenever you'd like to come over is fine.

Is right now all right? I mean, I can literally pop over any time.

Sure, I don't have anything going on at the moment.

All right, I'll be there in about five minutes. I should probably straighten up this a bit before I leave it.

[She winks and hangs up.]

[She gathers together all her potions supplies and packs up a few vials of all the potions she's made for Sollux's operation. When things are neat, she apparates to Equius' front stoop and knocks on the door.]

[When he hears the knock on the door, Equius gets up from the couch, gently displacing Pounce the chocobo from his lap onto a cushion, and heads to the door. Darkleer the chocobo charges in front of him, warking excitedly.]

[He opens the door and offers a half-smile, holding back the rambunctious bird with one foot.]

Hello, Lily. Please, come in.

[She laughs as the Chocobo tries to launch itself out of the door and steps into the hive.]

Hello, Equius. Thank you for having me to your home.

It's a pleasure having you here.

[He's not the only one that thinks so; Darkleer remembers you, Lily, you pet him before! You pet him before and therefore you are friends! Cue more excited warming and scrambling as the chick tries to jump all over Lily.]

Darkleer, you're being very rude!

[Equius tries gamely to catch the chick, but the whole "being STRONG" thing is not conducive to dealing with hyperactive baby chocobos, and Darkleer easily evades him, prancing around Lily's feet and making a ruckus.]

[She laughs again, leaning over to pet the chocobo.]

It's all right, he's just excited. Aren't you, Darkleer. [She makes soft, soothing sounds in an attmept to calm the bird.]

[See, Dad? Lily understands him! Darkleer struts and preens under the attention, eventually settling down for the serious business of getting petted.]

Thank you for being patient with him. I know he's... a lot to take sometimes.

[Equius gestures towards the living room.]

Please, come in and have a seat.

There's a class at Hogwarts called "Care of Magical Creatures". I've dealt with much worse.

[She follows his lead and takes a seat on the couch, lifting up the chocobo to sit in her lap, so she can continue petting him.]

I feel as though I'm offering you drugs.

[She pulls out a vial of turquoise liquid and holds it out to him. The glass is warm, and when he takes the stopper out, a silver mist should float off the surface of the liquid.]

[Equius eyes the vial skeptically. That looks like glass...]

One moment.

[He leaves, going to the kitchen, and returns with a silicone cup, which may or may not have a pattern of robots printed across it.]

Would you pour it into here, please?

Oh...too fragile?

[She takes the cup and unstops the vial, that silver mist floating out of the top and lingering in the air. She pours carefully before handing it to Equius.]

Don't shake it about before you drink it.

[Equius studies the silver mist, then sniffs at the cup. Behind his shades, his eyes widen.]

It... it smells like the wind, in the light season, when it comes down through the mountains.

[The smell reminds him of home, and reassures him. With a nod to Lily, he drains the cup.]

[She nods, so far so good. She's very confident in her potion brewing, but she's never administered one to a troll before, so she's both nervous and a bit curious as to how it will turn out.]

It should start working almost immediately.

[And it does start working, very quickly; for all his bulk and size, Equius is the troll equivalent of a Straight Edge kid--no meat, no caffeine, no pollutants or toxins--and the potion goes straight to his head. Suddenly, all the rough edges around the world are gone, and there is only peace and a deep, soothing calm.]

[He puts the cup down and sets it on the table beside them.]

Wow. That's amazing.

[She grins.]

It's working?

It certainly is.

[He offers her a shy half-smile. Pounce--the good chocobo--hops up on the couch and crawls into his lap.]

This is some incredible stuff.

[Lily grins and claps!]

Oh, brilliant! That means that all of them should work! I'm so glad. How do you feel?

Like everything is beautiful and nothing hurts.

[He turns his head and grins at her. Seems like you may want to tweak the dosage, Lily... this looks like like calm and more like slightly high.]

Have I ever told you about Gamzee?

Hm. Maybe a bit less next time.

[But for now, this is nice.]

You haven't. He told me all about you, though.

Did he?

[Equius vaguely remembers her mentioning that before, but the memory slips away from him. Oh, well.]

[Guess what, Lily? You get to hear another inebriated troll babble about his boyfriend!]

He's so amazing, Lily. Like, really amazing. He's really patient, and he's funny, and he cooks like you wouldn't believe... like, really great food, all sorts of different stuff, and whatever you want him to make, he can do it without meat too and it's so cool watching him work in the kitchen.

And he listens to me, and he's not afraid of me... he lets me touch him, Lily, and he even wants me to touch him more but I can't because I don't want to hurt him, and he's okay with that too. And sometimes he takes naps on me and we cuddle and the sweat doesn't bother him, and he leaves paint on me sometimes but that's okay too, and...

[He trails off, just staring happily into space.]

And he's a really great kisser.
