Charm ☼ 004 [video]
[Lily's set herself up in the library in her house. There's a cauldron in front of her, a small flame flickering beneath it. She stirs the pot three times clockwise, and then four counterclockwise.]
Hello, Vatheon. There are quite a few new people floating about again, so I thought this was a perfect time to post. I'm Lily. As you can see I've been doing a bit of potion brewing. I finally made it down to the Nostalgia Nook, and the shop from my world is absolutely brilliant.
[She pauses to check her potions book and adds an ingredient, tapping the cauldron twice with her wand. Potions is very complicated and delicate.]
I stocked up on ingredients, so after I brewed a few potions for friends of mine, I thought I'd brew a few other useful ones. First of all a big batch of Pepper-Up. [She gestures to the cauldron.] That'll be a cure for the common cold. And hangovers. So if anyone's feeling a bit under the weather, let me know.
That said, [She turns the heat under the cauldron down.] Equius. Sollux. I'm ready when you are.

[She gestures to the cauldron.] That'll be a cure for the common cold. And hangovers. So if anyone's feeling a bit under the weather, let me know.
That said, [She turns the heat under the cauldron down.] Equius. Sollux. I'm ready when you are.
[action]
[If Equius wasn't feeling so calm and completely at peace, he would be deeply embarrassed about admitting that. He hasn't even said it to Gamzee yet, and here he is spilling it to this human.]
James? He's your matesprit, right? The one you're going to have a wiggler with?
[He leans on the back of the couch, grinning lazily at her, his chin resting on one hand.]
Tell me all about him.
[action]
You know, I had a feeling.
Yes. He's my matespirit. My boyfriend. Or rather...fiance. He proposed. [She shows him the emerald ring she now wears on her left ring finger. And then pulls back her hand to look at it for a moment as she begins to speak.]
I absolutely hated him when we first met. And for several years after that as well. He was arrogant and impudent and childish and he and his best friend, Sirius, tortured my best friend for years. But he set his sights on me from the start. He tried everything he could think of to get me to go out with him. And I resisted for so long. But somewhere along the way he grew up. He's still arrogant and there are times I'm certain he's twelve years old, but...he's a good man. He loves me in such a complete, honest, almost overwhelming way...he wore me down. I love him more than I ever thought was possible.
[action]
Sounds almost like a mobius double-reach-around matespritship/kismesitude.
[Some deep, low chuckling.]
I want to meet him.
[action]
Maybe a bit. I still do enjoy arguing with him far too much. And now making up is much more fun. [A smirk.]
I'd love for you to meet him. He's brilliant.
[action]
[Oh, now you've gone and done it. A chance to show off his boyfriend and meet Lily's? SOLD.]
We could have a flushed double-date! Me and Gamzee, and you and James!
[action]
You know, that sounds like a wonderful idea. I need to introduce you to James anyway; he should probably know that I've gotten myself into a romantic relationship with a pair of trolls.
[action]
[The stronger effects of the potion are starting to wear off, and Equius is now more calm and serene than high.]
But I would still like to meet him.
[action]
Well you'll have to stop by sometime. For dinner, maybe? What sorts of things do you like to eat?
[action]
That sounds lovely. Gamzee will eat almost anything, and I am not particularly choosy, either... although I don't eat the flesh of beasts, so no meat, please.
[action]
[action]
[There's no word in Alternian for someone who doesn't eat meat, since it's highly unusual to find a troll who feels that way!]
[action]
[action]
Fascinating.
[action]
[action]
[Lots of milk. Copious amounts of milk. Epic amounts of milk from various creepy sources.]
Are there many humans that do that? Is it a common thing? I mean, it must be, since there's a word for it and all... on Alternia, they called trolls who didn't eat meat...
[And he abruptly stops talking, his mouth closing with a snap, and he looks away.]
... never mind.
[action]
[action]
[But then he relaxes again, and just looks sad.]
Yeah. That.
[action]
[action]
You were considered... that... too?
[action]
[action]
What... what are some of the other words?
[So he can make sure never to use them.]
[action]
Mudblood. [She scowls when she says it, like it's a dirty word. That one still hurts.]
[action]
[Now Equius is very glad he asked, since that is actually a slur in troll language as well... one that he used to use.]
Your blood... isn't brown, right?
[action]
[action]
There's a troll here--his name is Tavros--who has brown blood. Sometimes, back on Alternian, he used to be called a mudblood too.
[Equius leaves out the fact that it was him who called him that.]
