[Lily's set herself up in the library in her house. There's a cauldron in front of her, a small flame flickering beneath it. She stirs the pot three times clockwise, and then four counterclockwise.]

Hello, Vatheon. There are quite a few new people floating about again, so I thought this was a perfect time to post. I'm Lily. As you can see I've been doing a bit of potion brewing. I finally made it down to the Nostalgia Nook, and the shop from my world is absolutely brilliant.

[She pauses to check her potions book and adds an ingredient, tapping the cauldron twice with her wand. Potions is very complicated and delicate.]

I stocked up on ingredients, so after I brewed a few potions for friends of mine, I thought I'd brew a few other useful ones. First of all a big batch of Pepper-Up. [She gestures to the cauldron.] That'll be a cure for the common cold. And hangovers. So if anyone's feeling a bit under the weather, let me know.

That said, [She turns the heat under the cauldron down.] Equius. Sollux. I'm ready when you are.

It's good to see you too, Karkat. [She's grinning.] Yes, I apparated. I could have appeared right in your apartment, but I was fairly certain your reaction wouldn't be particularly pleasant.

Apparated...? Sounds kind of like transportalizing, but magic and without needing an actual transportalizer set up.

You ever apparate in my apartment, though, and I will give you the bitching out of the century.

[He steps aside now to let her in.]

I don't need a transportalizer, I've got magic!

The look on your face would have been priceless, though. Luckily Gamzee and Equius were both outdoors when I surprised them by apparating right next to them.

[She takes a step into the apartment. It looks so...normal.]

So this is where you live?

[He smacks a palm against his forehead in mock realization.]

No, really? How could I have ever thought that! Just because you've demonstrated it on the network, used it in my presence, made a fucking potion in that last video, and apparated into the building, I would have zero fucking clue that magic would be what you have, nor, having done what you just did, that it would negate the need for transportalizers. How could I have ever been so completely incompetent?

Of course I live here, moron.

[She rolls her eyes. Oh Karkat.]

It just doesn't look like what I imagined a troll's hive to look. I suppose that's because it's a muggle apartment building, but still.

It's a human apartment building instead of a proper troll communal hivestem. There isn't even any troll furniture or appliances, just your human versions. The only exception is the recuperacoon in either respiteblock, but even those had to be shoved in alongside the human beds.

Come on. Eridan's block is this way.

[He leads past the living room.]

[She follows, wondering what exactly a recuperacoon might look like.]

You said he's been asleep for a week?

Yeah. It's a thing that happens here. It happened to Terezi before, and I know others have been hit with it, since Vatheon is basically dick city.

[Through another door, and then they're in Eridan's room. Against one wall is situated a purple pod filled with neon green slime. But while it may be there, and the sleeping place of choice for a troll, the sea dweller is instead placed in the more familiar bed.]

[There also happens to be a pile of scarves off to one side, which Karkat gives a disdainful look.]

Is it a difficult spell?

Yes, I've talked to several people who have spent long periods of time asleep.

[She sees the slime and mentally catalogues that to figure out later.]

No, it's relatively simple spell. I'm just not sure that it will work.

[She steps up beside Eridan's bed and gazes down at him. At least he looks peaceful. She takes a deep breath, hoping that this will work. She points her wand at his face.]

Rennervate. [A jet of red light hits Eridan square in the forehead.]

[He'd explain, if she asked, but that's kind of off-topic now. Karkat goes up beside her, looking first at her wand, then his comatose moirail. He tries to look fine and unconcerned, but the truth is he's been pretty concerned for the pitiable douche.]

[And for all Lily has helped him, he almost wants to jump in front of the beam just from how it looks. Red light? At his forehead? Thank goodness it's not white, or he'd have some very unfortunate flashbacks.]

[Luckily for all involved, Eridan's head does not explode.]

[Unluckily, he doesn't wake up, either.]

[Karkat waits a moment or two, frowning growing with each.]

Did you do it wrong? Or does it take a while?

[He looks at her.]

Try it again.

Of course I didn't do it wrong.

[She bites her lip. If it didn't work once, it's not going to work a second time, but she does as she's asked, more forcefully this time.] Rennervate!

How the fuck am I supposed to know?

[A quick glare, and then his eyes are back on his moirail. Eridan's been out for a week, Karkat put his hope in this, and here it didn't work. Not even with the second application, which just makes him curse.]

Damnit.

Just... ugh. Why the fuck can't Vatheon just give me one break? One. One little thing.

Well I take a lot of pride in what I do. I don't do it wrong.

[She sighs and sits on the bed next to Eridan, impulsively reaching out to brush a lock of hair out of his face. ]

I'm sorry, Karkat.

[Karkat looks reluctant to even let her do that, but it's an ultimately harmless gesture that causes no fault. Still, he sits there himself, and takes hold of Eridan's hand.]

It's... It's not as bad as it could be.

[He lets out a sigh of his own.]

He'll wake up eventually, even if I don't know when. At least he's here instead of back in the Veil.

[A shudder. Definitely better than that.]

... Thanks anyway.

[She nods, feeling terrible that she can't help.]

...I've heard that those who sleep for so long have pleasant dreams. And that they awaken refreshed.

Eridan whines about as much as I do, if not more. Trust me, even if he dreams of a utopia of scarves and bad hair choices, he will still find something to bitch about when he wakes up.

...well whether he's complaining or not, it's better that he slept peacefully, isn't it?

[He lets out an exhale.]

Yeah, yeah, I'm not denying that. But he will anyway. I know him too well to think otherwise.

[Lily sighs, feeling helpless, as she's felt for most of her time here in Vatheon.]

I wish there were something else I could do to help.

If there was something I could think of, I'd tell you.

[He knows the feeling pretty well. Let's hope a subject change works.]

But you, Sollux, and Equius, huh? Is that all going to become a thing now?

[She smiles softly.]

Yes, it's a thing.

So did you already get the whole thing with the eyes done? How did it go, if you did?

Not yet. I had to brew some potions first. One to knock Solllux out and one to keep Equius calm.

I am gladder the longer I know you that you're a witch. Useful as fuck.

[Even if it didn't work for Eridan, but Vatheon's a dick.]

Hell, I could have used that the time I have Equius install a robot arm on Slick.

Yes, it comes in quite handy. And there's a spell for nearly everything. Good and bad.
