[Lily's set herself up in the library in her house. There's a cauldron in front of her, a small flame flickering beneath it. She stirs the pot three times clockwise, and then four counterclockwise.]

Hello, Vatheon. There are quite a few new people floating about again, so I thought this was a perfect time to post. I'm Lily. As you can see I've been doing a bit of potion brewing. I finally made it down to the Nostalgia Nook, and the shop from my world is absolutely brilliant.

[She pauses to check her potions book and adds an ingredient, tapping the cauldron twice with her wand. Potions is very complicated and delicate.]

I stocked up on ingredients, so after I brewed a few potions for friends of mine, I thought I'd brew a few other useful ones. First of all a big batch of Pepper-Up. [She gestures to the cauldron.] That'll be a cure for the common cold. And hangovers. So if anyone's feeling a bit under the weather, let me know.

That said, [She turns the heat under the cauldron down.] Equius. Sollux. I'm ready when you are.

Magic keeps most wizards busy. There are many magical creatures above the water to study.

There has to be a word in English for an all-encompassing approach to any advanced studies.

Ah, I looked it up -- holistic? Not sacrificing learning the basics about something just for the sake of advanced studies elsewhere. All-encompassing.

Ah, yes. That is the right word. Looking at something as a whole rather than only as its parts.

How much longer before all of you go to university?

Oh, we won't. There aren't wizarding universities. There's further study for certain professions, like training to become a healer or an auror. An auror is like...the wizarding police.

And...knowing our future...we'll spend the rest of our lives after Hogwarts fighting in a war.

Even in your home... another war... [Bitter sadness through and through.]

[She nods.]

Yes. [If she says much more than that she's afraid she'll give too much away.]

For what it's worth, I'm sorry. And I understand.

[Another nod and a furrowed brow.]

There's conflict in almost all the worlds of people I've met here. Apocalyptic in some places.

That's not a comforting thought... I'd been hoping for more peace in future times, not less.

No...it's. Ron. The boy who's living with us? He's from our world, just...eighteen years in the future.

[Yeah, he tries to let that settle. That's a little weirder than people living thousands of years or hiding an entire civilization beyond illusionary trees.]

I can only hope there's some greater purpose to... to doing that, to you all and him as well.

Who knows what the purpose of this place is?

[She shrugs.]
